On August 24 there will be a full day meeting to exchange dialogue over open water fish production in the Great Lakes. All stakeholder groups from the state of Michigan are encouraged to participate. If you are interested in knowing how freshwater net-pen aquaculture is utilized in Canada, or wish to share your concerns, then this meeting is an ideal opportunity.
Goal: Educate & Inform – Initiate a public dialog as we together explore how our water resources can best be deployed for society’s benefit and delivering fresh, healthy, and affordable seafood
Who’s invited: All interested stakeholders
Format: Moderated panels, including both US and Canadian stakeholders, that will address specific topics/issues -including nutrients, fish health, genetics, ecosystem stewardship, and best practices — followed by Q&A and group discussion
Location: Kewadin Casino Conference Center, St. Ignace, MI Date/Time: August 24 9am-5pm (Monday)
For now please mark your calendars with the above date if you are interested in joining the conversation. Expect further communication about this event later in July — Including a more detailed agenda and information about accommodations at the Kewadin for those that might come on the Sunday.
